NALITABARI, SHERPUR, Mar 13: Reports have emerged of serious irregularities during a Trading Corporation of Bangladesh (TCB) truck sale in Nalitabari Municipality ahead of the holy month of Ramadan, leaving nearly 90 consumers without their allocated goods.

The sale, conducted on Sunday by M/s Paradise Enterprise on the municipal grounds, was meant to distribute goods to around 400 consumers. However, locals raised complaints about irregularities during the distribution process. A verification of the truck's inventory later revealed that allocations for approximately 90 consumers were missing, causing frustration among the waiting crowd.

Nalitabari Upazila Assistant Commissioner (Land) Md. Anisur Rahman visited the site following the complaints. During the inspection, he recovered several empty oil cartons from the truck and ordered an immediate investigation into the incident.

Local residents alleged that some dealers and a few municipal employees involved in TCB distribution misappropriated the allocated goods. They claimed that goods for 100-150 consumers have frequently gone missing during previous distributions, suggesting a recurring problem.
Md. Abul Bashar, proprietor of M/s Paradise Enterprise, said he was unaware of the shortfall.

"Upon learning that goods were missing, I sent another truck with additional stock," he added.
Tag Officer and Deputy Assistant Agriculture Officer Md. Jahangir Alam, responsible for overseeing the distribution, said, "Neither the dealer nor anyone informed me about the issue. I have no knowledge of this matter."
