Minister urges young scientists to apply overseas knowledge to nat'l development

Posts, Telecommunications and Information Technology and Science and Technology Minister Fakir Mahbub Anam has called upon young scientists to apply the knowledge and experience gained from higher studies abroad to national development.

He made the call while inaugurating the two-day 6th Young Scientist Congress at the National Science and Technology Complex in the capital's Agargaon on Saturday.

Young scientists from across the country are showcasing research, innovation and prospects in artificial intelligence at the congress.

The minister said young scientists are the future leaders and must play a vital role in the country's progress through research, innovation and creativity. 

He noted that science and technology are key drivers of economic growth, national security, sustainable development and human welfare.

Speaking on the occasion as special guest, Science and Technology Ministry Secretary Md Anwar Hossain said the government has taken initiatives to establish a national AI institute, focusing on data security and its application in sectors such as agriculture, healthcare, education and industry.

UGC Chairman Prof. Dr. Mamun Ahmed said young scientists are the driving force in the era of the Fourth Industrial Revolution.

The congress includes sessions, research presentations, panel discussions and technology exhibitions.
