Police have arrested a youth along with a huge amount of Yaba pills in Khulna district on Saturday while he was allegedly attempting to transport the drugs to Dhaka.

The arrested was identified as Naim, 20, son of Md Miraj Sheikh, a resident of Louhajang upazila in Munshiganj district.

Acting on a tip-off, police set up a checkpoint in Koia Bazar area under Harintana Police Station and signalled a passenger bus to stop at around 12:30 PM.

During a subsequent search, officers noticed suspicious behaviour from Naim, recovered 52 packets of Yaba pills and arrested him.

Harintana Police Station officer-in-charge (OC) Sheikh Khairul Basar confirmed the detention and said that further legal procedures are underway.

Preliminary interrogation suggests that the accused was transporting the drugs from Satkhira to Dhaka, added the OC.
