The Secondary School Certificate (SSC) and equivalent examinations will begin across the country on Tuesday, with 1,857,344 students expected to sit for the tests this year.

Of the total candidates, 930,305 are male and 927,039 female, representing 30,666 educational institutions. A total of 3,885 examination centres have been set up across the country.
Under the nine general education boards, 1,418,318 students will take part in the SSC examinations, including 667,305 male and 751,093 female candidates.
The Madrasah Education Board will see 303,286 students appearing in the Dakhil examinations, comprising 161,491 male and 142,795 female candidates at 742 centres.
Meanwhile, 134,660 students will sit for SSC (Vocational) examinations under the Technical Education Board, including 101,509 male and 33,151 female candidates at 653 centres.
Addressing the press conference, Mahdi Amin urged students and guardians not to panic, saying the government is working to reduce “exam fear” and ensure a student-friendly environment.
He added that authorities have been instructed to maintain a calm atmosphere in examination halls so that candidates can take part without disruption.
Highlighting the academic disruption caused by the COVID-19 pandemic, he noted that this batch could not participate in earlier public examinations such as the Primary Education Completion (PEC). As a result, this will be their first full-syllabus public exam, and special measures have been taken to provide a supportive environment.
