Stop selling expired food

Dear Sir,

The demand for packaged foods is rising rapidly due to convenience and time-saving benefits. Items like bakery goods, chips, snacks, instant meals, and dairy products have become part of daily diets. However, a disturbing trend is putting consumers at risk: the resale of expired products.

Unscrupulous traders often erase expiry dates using chemicals such as acetone and replace them with new labels. Some even remove expired items from original packaging and resell them in new packs or as loose goods.

To protect public health, regular monitoring by authorities is essential. Consumers must also check expiry dates, lot numbers, and packaging before purchasing. Strict penalties for dishonest traders are necessary to stop this dangerous practice and ensure food safety.
