Dear Sir,
Teaching is a noble profession, and talented teachers play a vital role in educating future generations and building a better society. Therefore, retaining capable people in this profession should remain a priority.
Since 2015, the Non-Government Teachers’ Registration and Certification Authority (NTRCA) has recommended teachers for vacant posts centrally, creating a more merit-based and transparent recruitment process. In the last decade, it has recommended the appointment of 1,77,571 teachers. Although the system faces some administrative complexities and delays, it has reduced the scope for local influence, irregularities and financial transactions.
However, recruitment alone cannot retain talented people in teaching. The government must ensure attractive salaries, timely promotions, research and training opportunities, and a secure working environment. If the recruitment system returns to managing committees or governing bodies, the government must ensure transparency, neutrality and merit to prevent political influence, nepotism and irregularities.
