Medical student found dead at Ctg hostel

A private medical college student's body has been recovered from a boys' hostel in Chattogram's Chandanaish upazila.

The body was recovered on Monday noon from a room on the ground floor of Raju Garments Abdur Nur Bhaban of BGC Trust Medical College Hospital's hostel-3.

Deceased Nazrul Islam Sayem, son of Md Abdur Rahim, was the second year student of the college of 2023-24 session. He hailed from Boalkhali upazila.

The college's principal Prof Arup Datta said that Nazrul had been suffering from mental illness for a long time and had been undergoing treatment.

Nazrul Islam was found in an unconscious state at his room at noon was taken to the emergency department of the college where the on-duty doctors declared him dead.

Later Chandanaish Police Station was informed about the matter.

The police station SI Md Shariful Islam said, ''Primary investigation reported that Nazrul had been suffering from mental illness.''

The body was handed over to the family without autopsy following request of the family. An unnatural death case has been registered at the police station in this connection, the SI added.
