JASHORE, May 5: The family of slain BNP leader and businessman Alamgir Hossain has expressed concern after the main accused in his murder case was released on bail, alleging that they are now facing renewed threats and insecurity.

At a press conference held at Jashore Press Club on Tuesday, the victim's wife Shamima Begum said their family has been living in fear since the release of her son-in-law and prime accused, Bashed Ali Parash.

According to the family, main accused of killing mission Parash was granted bail by the High Court on April 28 and was released from Jashore Central Jail on April 30.

Alamgir Hossain, a BNP leader and businessman, was shot dead on January 3 this year in front of his residence on Ishaque Road in Shankarpur area of Jashore town.

The family said armed assailants arrived on motorcycles and opened fire on him, killing him on the spot before fleeing. Another accused, Asabul Islam Sagar, was also involved in the attack, they alleged.

A murder case was filed with Kotwali Police Station the following day, and police later arrested key suspects who were sent to jail. The accused reportedly gave confessional statements in court, the family claimed.

However, they said they are now worried after the prime accused was released on bail within a few months of arrest.

Shamima Begum alleged that the accused used legal influence to secure bail and that threats were made even while he was in custody. She further claimed that intimidation has continued after his release through intermediaries.

"We are living in constant fear and feel unsafe even at home," she said.

Other family members, including Ilara Khatun Ratri, Redwan Hossain, Inamul and Tabibur Rahman, were also present at the briefing.
The family has urged authorities to ensure their safety and take necessary legal steps.
