5 die with measles symptoms, 826 new suspected case reported

The country has recorded 826 new suspected measles cases and five more deaths in the last 24 hours, according to Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS).

In its latest bulletin issued on Thursday, the DGHS said 51 measles case were confirmed between 8 am Wednesday and 8 am Thursday,  although no confirmed deaths were reportes during the period. 

Since March 15, the country hs reported a total of 8,885 confirmed measles cases, while the number of suspected cases has risen to 67,905. 

Authorities said 88 have died from confirmed measles infection so far,while 477 deaths were recorded among the suspected case during the same period. 

Meanwhile a total of 50,926 patients have recovered from the disease across the country, the DGHS added.
