32 win Nat’l Film Awards ’23

Nisho best actor, Putul best actress, Saatao best film

The government has announced the winners of the National Film Award 2023, selecting 32 artists and film professionals across 28 categories. The new notification cancels the previous gazette issued during the interim government's tenure.

The Film-1 Wing of the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting issued the revised gazette notification on Tuesday (June 2). Earlier, the government had published another notification announcing the winners on January 29, which sparked controversy.

According to the latest notification, veteran actress Jharna Basak Shabnam and renowned film editor Fazle Haque have jointly received the Lifetime Achievement Award. The award will also be conferred posthumously on acclaimed filmmaker Tareque Masud and filmmaker Abdul Latif Bachchu.

KM Halimuzzaman won the Best Director award for the film Satao, which was also named Best Film. Chaitali Samaddar's Mariam received the Best Short Film award, while Lilabati Nag: The Rebel of Eliza Binte Elahi won the Best Documentary Film award.

Afran Nisho (Ahmed Fazle Rabbi) was named Best Actor in a Leading Role for Surongo, while Ainun Nahar Putul won Best Actress in a Leading Role for Satao. Monir Ahmed received the Best Supporting Actor award for Surongo, and Nazia Haque Orsha won Best Supporting Actress for Ora Sat Jon.

Khandaker Rashid Ahmed won Best Actor in a Negative Role for Adventure of Sundarban, while Shahiduzzaman Selim received the Best Actor in a Comic Role award for Surongo.

In the child artist category, Md. Lyon won Best Child Artist for Am Kathaler Chhuti. Arif Hasan and Anaira Khan received special recognition in the same category for the film.

Mostafizur Rahman Chowdhury Imon won Best Music Director for Adventure of Sundarban, while Habibur Rahman received the Best Choreographer award for Lal Shari. Kazi Md. Ali Jahangir (Balam) was named Best Male Singer for Priyotoma, and Avanti Deb Sithi won Best Female Singer for Surongo.

For Priyotoma, Someshwar Oli won Best Lyricist, Prince Mahmud received the Best Composer award, and Faruk Hossain won Best Story Writer. Tasnimul Hasan was named Best Screenplay Writer for Raktajoba. Raihan Rafi Chowdhury and Syed Nazim Uddoula jointly won Best Dialogue Writer for Surongo.

Mohammad Salahuddin Ahmed Babu won Best Editor for Ora Sat Jon. Shahidul Islam and Suman Kumar Sarkar received the Best Art Director and Best Cinematographer awards respectively for Surongo. Sujan Mahmud won Best Sound Recordist for Satao.

Beethi Afrin received the Best Costume and Makeup award for Surongo, while Sabuj won Best Makeup Artist for Priyotoma.
