Three more people died of dengue across the country in the past 24 hours, raising the death toll from the mosquito-borne disease to 74 this year.
During the same period, 753 more dengue patients were admitted to hospitals, according to the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS) regular dengue bulletin on Tuesday.
The bulletin read that between 8am Monday and 8am Tuesday, 98 dengue patients were admitted to hospitals in Barishal Division, 94 in Chattogram Division, 51 in Dhaka Division outside the city corporations, 135 in Dhaka North City Corporation and 106 in Dhaka South City Corporation. In addition, 135 patients were admitted in Khulna Division, 61 in Mymensingh, 46 in Rajshahi, 24 in Rangpur and three in Sylhet.
According to DGHS data, a total of 25,601 people have been hospitalised with dengue so far this year. Of them, 10,291 were admitted in August alone, while 9,206 were hospitalised in July and 2,907 in June.
