Freedom of mass media needed for overall welfare: Whip Dulu

NATORE, June 5: MP of Natore-2 Constituency and Whip of the Jatiya Sangsad M Ruhul Quddus Talukder Dulu said freedom of mass-media is a must for the overall welfare of people and the country. 

The whip said this as chief guest during the celebration of Natore Press Club's 49th founding anniversary at the press club hall room on Thursday. 

He also said, "Our government is firmly determined to ensure the freedom of media. Shaheed President Ziaur Rahaman made an arrangement for constructing a building for Natore Press Club in Natore town in 1977. I hope that the present position of the press club will be more developed during the present government's tenure." 

President of Natore Press Club Md Shahidul Haque Sarker chaired the programme and General Secretary Quamrul Islam conducted it. Natore Deputy Commissioner Asma Shahin and Superintended of Police Md Shariful Haque were present as special guests.

Among others, District Jamaat-e-Islami Ameer Dr Mir Nurul Islam, former mayor of Natore Municipality Kaji Shah Alam and Joint Convener of District NCP Rakib Uddin spoke in the event.
