Islami Andolan forms new central committee

Islami Andolan Bangladesh on Saturday announced a new central committee following a special meeting of its Central Majlis-e-Shura at FARS Hotel and Resorts in the capital’s Bijoynagar area. 

The special session was held before the expiry of the current committee's tenure to strengthen the party's organisational structure ahead of the upcoming local government elections and future political activities. The meeting reviewed the party's organisational performance for 2025�"26 and discussed the country's political situation and future strategy.

Party's Ameer Syed Muhammad Rezaul Karim  said Islami Andolan Bangladesh is committed to implementing the principles of Shariah and shaping its political strategy accordingly. He urged party leaders to build a stronger and more disciplined organisation to meet future challenges.

Following the review of the organisational and political reports, Shura approved a new leadership. Maulana Gazi Ataur Rahman has been appointed Secretary General (SG). Engineer Ashraful Alam, Principal Sheikh Fazle Bari Masud, Shah Iftekhar Tariq and Maulana Nesar Uddin have been appointed joint SGs. Four assistant SGs have also been appointed.

Outgoing SG Principal Hafez Maulana Yunus Ahmad, who had served in the post since 2008, was inducted into the party's Presidium in recognition of his long service.

The party also announced a 54-member central committee comprising senior leaders, Islamic scholars and professionals to lead its organisational and political activities across the country.
