Bangladesh recorded four more suspected measles-related deaths in the 24 hours ending at 8:00 AM on Sunday, raising the country's combined toll of confirmed and suspected fatalities to 712, according to the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS).
The latest deaths have been classified as suspected measles fatalities. With the new figures, the number of suspected deaths has increased to 619, while the number of laboratory-confirmed measles deaths remains unchanged at 93.
During the reporting period, the DGHS recorded 941 new suspected measles cases, taking the cumulative number of suspected infections across the country to 99,207.
The health authority also confirmed 116 new measles infections through laboratory testing, bringing the total number of confirmed cases to 11,710.
According to DGHS data, a total of 82,844 patients with suspected measles have been admitted to hospitals nationwide since April 10. Of them, 79,152 have recovered and been discharged.
Health officials continue to monitor the outbreak and have urged the public to seek timely medical care and ensure children receive routine immunisation to help contain the spread of the disease.
