A domestic flight of Air Astra operating on the Dhaka�"Chattogram route made an emergency landing at Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport in Dhaka on Sunday after a mechanical malfunction shortly after takeoff, affecting 70 passengers onboard.
According to airport sources, the aircraft departed from Dhaka around noon bound for Chattogram. Within two to three minutes of takeoff, the pilot reportedly detected a technical issue in one of the engines. Following safety protocols, the pilot decided to abort the flight and return immediately to Dhaka, where the aircraft landed safely. All passengers were later transferred to an alternative flight to reach their destination in Chattogram.
Details regarding the exact nature of the mechanical fault have not been disclosed by the airline. The aircraft remained grounded for inspection following the incident.
