Bangladesh Navy has started an operation to rescue six fishermen who went missing due to a fishing trawler capsized in the Bay of Bengal. Navy’s warship 'BNS Gomati' is currently conducting the rescue operations in the sea.
Mongla Upazila Fisheries Department confirmed this news on Thursday.
Sources confirmed that last Sunday (July 5) a trawler was fishing in the Bay of Bengal about 100 to 150 kilometers east-south from the area adjacent to Payra Seaport. It was capsized after facing adverse weather and storm. The trawler contained 11 fishermen.
Five fishermen were rescued immediately while six others still remain missing. Missing fishermen are residents of Galachipa Upazila of Patuakhali.
Bangladesh Navy’s 'BNS Gomati' is currently operational in a vast sea area to rescue the missing fishermen. Relevant authorities stated that rescue operation would continue until the missing persons are found.
