Up to a point, the authors argue that his genius is not merely physical but profoundly intellectual. While his explosive speed, technical touch and micro-timing are his most obvious secret weapons, the book repeatedly returns to his reading of the game, a God-given, nature proven intelligence that seems to operate with superhero-like reflexes in slow motion while the rest of the world is in fast-forward. This is the heart of the Kylian Mbappé paradox: a playmaker who seems destined to dominate the next decade is already being discussed in terms of his legacy, a weight he wears with a startling, almost unsettling, level-headedness. 

Outside of that, we see a soccer star who is the product of a modern, scientific academy but who reveres the raw, street-football flair of his idols, including all-star Cristiano Ronaldo (little Mbappe wallpapered his room with posters of the Portuguese player), Ronaldinho and Zidane.
