Waterlogging resolved at DU female halls

Waterlogging at Bangladesh-Kuwait Maitree Hall and Bangamata Sheikh Fazilatunnesa Mujib Hall areas of Dhaka University (DU) has been completely resolved following swift and effective measures taken by the university and hall administrations, a DU press release said.

At present, the overall situation, including the electricity supply at the halls and the regular life of the students has returned . The university authorities have urged all concerned not to panic over the situation.

Meanwhile, all pre-scheduled internal examinations of the university for today have been postponed due to the inclement weather.

Notably, the DU administration and hall authorities had been working tirelessly since Sunday morning to drain out the water, restore electricity, and ensure safe drinking water in the affected hall areas.

Under the leadership of the Pro-VC (Admin), a joint effort involving WASA, DPDC, the City Corporation, and the university’s Engineering Department successfully cleared the waterlogging, restored power supply, and ensured clean drinking water by Sunday night.

The hall administrations distributed adequate candles, mineral water, and mosquito coils to the students last night (July 12). Additionally, food arrangements were made for the students this morning (July 13).

The university and hall administrations have reiterated their commitment to always stand by the students to address any crisis or mitigate any problems.
