THAKURGAON, July 17: A consultation meeting on integrated development and planning for establishing a model Technical Training Centre (TTC) was held in the district on Wednesday.
Organised by the Thakurgaon TTC, the meeting took place at the institution's conference hall with Acting Principal Md Al Amin in the chair.
Additional Deputy Commissioner (General) Nazmul Haque Sumon attended the event as the chief guest, while Thakurgaon BNP President and Bangladesh Cricket Board Director Mirza Faisal Amin was present as the guest of honour. Thakurgaon BNP Joint General Secretary Mamun Or Rashid was present as a special guest.
Among others, Wage Earners' Welfare Board Counsellor Kamal Hossain addressed the programme. TTC instructor and President of the Thakurgaon District unit of the National Journalists' Association Zulfikar Ali moderated the discussion.
Speakers praised the role of the TTC in producing skilled manpower and helping reduce unemployment through vocational training. They said that while many institutions contribute little to employment generation, the TTC has been creating skilled workers through training programmes, enabling both domestic and overseas employment opportunities.
The speakers assured the institution of government and local support to facilitate its development into a model training centre and strengthen its contribution to employment generation.
Acting Principal Al Amin sought cooperation from the government, local representatives, the media and other stakeholders to realise the vision of transforming the institution into a model TTC.
BNP leader and former student leader Rashed Alam Labu, former general secretary of the Thakurgaon Reporters' Unity and General Secretary of the district unit of the National Journalists' Association Asaduzzaman Asad, local political leaders, teachers, officials and staff members of the TTC also attended the event.
Before the meeting, the guests visited the centre's training facilities, including computer and driving trades, and expressed satisfaction with its activities.
Established to develop skilled manpower, the Thakurgaon TTC has been providing vocational training in various trades, contributing to local employment, overseas job placement and remittance earnings.
