Moral education key to nation building: Jamaat MP

BAUPHAL, PATUAKHALI, July 17: Jamaat-e-Islami central leader and Patuakhali-2 (Bauphal) lawmaker Dr Shafiqul Islam Masud on Friday said educated, morally upright and skilled human resources are the greatest strength for a nation's development, urging students to uphold honesty, discipline and patriotism alongside academic excellence.

"The students who have earned scholarships today are not only the pride of their families but also of the entire Bauphal. Their achievements will inspire greater success in the future," he said while addressing a felicitation programme organised by the Bauphal Upazila unit of Bangladesh Islami Chhatra Shibir.

The event, held at the Bauphal Upazila Parishad auditorium, honoured fifth-grade students who received primary scholarship awards.
Dr Masud said students should not confine themselves to textbook knowledge but also cultivate moral values, integrity, discipline, patriotism and humanity.

"The leadership of tomorrow will emerge from today's talented students," he said.

The programme was chaired by Bauphal Upazila Chhatra Shibir President Md Arifur Rahman.

Among others present were former Chhatra Shibir central leader Advocate Mujahidul Islam, Barishal Metropolitan Chhatra Shibir President Mohammad Atiqul Islam, Patuakhali District Chhatra Shibir President KM Tamim, District Secretary Aminul Islam Sohel, former district president Rakibul Islam Nur and former Bauphal Upazila Chhatra Shibir President Limon Hossain.

Scholarship recipients from different educational institutions in the upazila, along with their guardians, teachers, well-wishers and Chhatra Shibir leaders and activists, attended the programme.

At the end of the event, the scholarship recipients were presented with honorary crests, certificates and gifts in recognition of their academic achievements.
