
Police has recovered the body of a trader from the Bangshi River in Ashulia on Sunday (July 19). His body was recovered two days after he went missing from Kaliakair.
The floating body was recovered from Bangshi River at Baidgaon Dakshinpara in Shimulia union of Ashulia. The trader was identified as Moinul Islam, 55. Police found Tk 26,340, a Vivo smartphone and several keys with the body.
The deceased, Moinul Islam, was the son of Mojibur Rahman of Sutrapur Namapara area in Kaliakair upazila of Gazipur. He was a wastage trader by profession.
Victim’s brother-in-law, Saiful Islam said Moinul had been missing since 7:00PM last Friday. A General Diary (GD) was filed with Kaliakair Police Station the next day. However, his whereabouts remained a mystery.
He added that they rushed to the spot after hearing that a human body was floating in the Bangshi river in Ashulia. They identified the body after arriving at the scene.
Ashulia Police Station Sub-Inspector (SI) Miraj Akon said the trader had been missing for two days. Locals saw the body floating in the river this morning and informed the police. Later, police went to the spot and recovered the body.
The body has been sent to the Shaheed Suhrawardy Medical College Hospital morgue in the capital for an autopsy, the police official added.
