Three people were killed and six others injured in separate road accidents in Naogaon and Gopalganj districts and Sonargaon Upazila of Narayanganj District on Thursday and Tuesday.
NAOGAON: A teacher was killed after being hit by a BRTC passenger bus at the Dayal intersection in the town on Thursday morning.
The deceased ATM Yusuf, 45, was a resident of Jagatsinghapur Hajipara area of the town and a teacher at Joypurhat Technical School and College.
According to the deceased’s family and local sources, the teacher was riding a motorcycle like every morning towards Joypurhat Technical School and College. On the way, he fell in the middle of the road after colliding with a battery-powered auto-rickshaw coming from the opposite direction at the Dayal intersection. At that time, a fast-moving BRTC passenger bus coming from Baludanga bus stand towards Mukti Mor ran over him.
Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Naogaon Sadar Police Station (PS) Mohammad Asaduzzaman said the body will be handed over after completing the legal process.
GOPALGANJ: A teenager was killed and two others, including a minibus driver, were injured in a head-on collision between a truck and a minibus on the Bedgram-Raghunathpur road near the Bedgram rail crossing in Gopalganj Sadar Upazila on Tuesday night.
The deceased Raju Sheikh, 17, was the son of Motaleb Sheikh of Hoglabunia Village in Nazirpur Upazila of Pirojpur District.
Gopalganj Sadar PS OC Aminul Islam said that a Bedgram-bound minibus from Raghunathpur collided head-on with a truck coming from the opposite direction in the Bedgram rail crossing. As a result, the minibus fell into a ditch on the road and three people, including Raju Sheikh, were injured. Later, locals admitted them to Gopalganj Medical College Hospital, where Raju Sheikh died while undergoing treatment.
SONARGAON, NARAYANGANJ: A pedestrian was killed and four others were injured when a freight truck hit an auto-rickshaw standing beside the Dhaka-Chattogram highway in Sonakhali area of Sonargaon Upazila of the district on Tuesday morning.
The deceased was Mahe Alam, 40, son of late Mojibur Rahman of Bhola District. He was a mason by profession and lived at a rented house in Sonakhali Babrakpur Village in Sonargaon.
The injured - auto-rickshaw driver Md Shahid, son of Nur Islam of Babrakpur area, and Md Alinur, son of Ingu Mia, Md Tika Khan, son of late Rashid Ali, and Md Suruj Mia, son of Munsur Ali of Sonakhali area were admitted to the local Al Baraka Hospital.
