iPhone 18 series is to be launched within two months and rumors are already circulating in the internet regarding its major battery changes and spectacular camera upgrades.

 

As reported by macrumors, tech giant Apple is planning a major shift in its product release cycle this year by adopting a two phase rollout strategy. Under time new timeline, premium iPhone 18 Pro, 18 Pro Max and long awaited foldable ‘iPhone Ultra’ is scheduled to debut in September 2026. 

However, standard iPhone 18, iPhone Air 2, and budget friendly iPhone 18e are expected to be revealed in spring 2027.

So, what are the specifications for the new iPhone series? Latest leaks are making ‘iSheeps’ going crazy!

iPhone 18 Pro lineup will follow its predecessor, 16 Pro series in terms of display size. The 6.3 and 6.9 inch display sizes are going to be continued in the latest 18 Pro. 

However, Apple has updated its back-glass manufacturing process to minimize color differences with the Titanium frame. 

Regarding the battery, iPhone 18 Pro Max is going to feature a thicker chassis to house a large battery, rumored to be 5,567mAh. 

In iPhone 17 Pro Max, the battery life is 500 less than what is expected in the latest series. For this reason, iPhone 18 Pro Max is breaking the record of iPhone 14 Pro Max, which was previously the heaviest produce of Apple.

14 Pro Max was around 240grams, while 18 Pro Max will contain 243grams of marvelous hardware!

Supply chain sources report that Apple is actively working to deduce the size of the screen cutout. Dynamic Island on the 18 Pro Max will be roughly 35 per cent narrower, from 20.7mm to 13.5mm. 

This reduction became possible as Face ID transmitter components will hide under the display glass. 

Furthermore, the devices will be equipped with new LTPO+ OLED panels supplied by Samsung Display and LG Display. The LTPO+ technology provides superior power efficiency by offering finer control over pixel lighting and screen brightness depending on ambient light conditions.

Apple’s this year flagship will be powered by their next-gen A20 Pro chip, manufactured on TSMC’s unbelievable 2nm process. 

The processor will utilize TSMC's Wafer-Level Multi-Chip Module (WMCM) packaging technology, integrating RAM directly onto the same wafer as the CPU, GPU, and Neural Engine. This design is expected to deliver up to 15 per cent faster speed and 30 per cent better power efficiency.

The latest release of iPhone will feature a massive overhaul of the camera tech. 48-megapixel main Fusion camera on both Pro models will reportedly feature a DSLR-style variable aperture lens.

If this is implemented, the user will obtain precise control over the camera’s depth of field, background blur, and light intake in low-light environment. 

In addition, Samsung is reportedly supplying a new three-layer stacked image sensor for the iPhone 18 series. Known as the PD-TR-Logic sensor, it improves camera responsiveness and dynamic range, marking a significant break in Sony's long-standing role as Apple's exclusive camera sensor provider.

The iPhone 18 Pro models are anticipated to support direct 5G satellite internet connectivity through an expanded partnership with Globalstar and Amazon.

Unlike current satellite capabilities restricted to emergency services, the new infrastructure aims to provide broader data access in remote areas without cellular towers.

In terms of aesthetics, Apple is testing several new color options, including deep red (dark cherry), light blue, dark gray, and silver, while potentially dropping the classic black finish for a second consecutive year.

The lineup will ship with iOS 27 out of the box, featuring a completely overhauled Siri assistant backed by 12GB of RAM to handle complex artificial intelligence tasks, visual intelligence tools, and system-wide writing features.
