Dream comes true as award winning student meets PM

A dream came true for Anushree Roy, a Class V student of Purba Nabanidas Government Primary School in Gangachara, as she met Prime Minister Tareq Rahman on Thursday and received a harmonium in recognition of her passion for music.
Anushree, who secured first place in the patriotic song category and third place in Nazrul Sangeet at the National Primary Education Award 2026, met the Prime Minister along with her parents at the Prime Minister's Office in the Cabinet Division at the Secretariat. During the meeting, the Prime Minister presented her with a harmonium, fulfilling a heartfelt request she had made in a letter.
Earlier, on July 15, while receiving her awards at the National Primary Education Award 2026 ceremony at the Bangladesh-China Friendship Conference Center, Anushree handed a letter addressed to the Prime Minister to one of his officials. In the letter, she expressed her love for music, explained that her family could not afford to buy a harmonium, and requested one to continue her musical training. She also shared her wish to meet the Prime Minister.
After reading the letter, the Prime Minister invited Anushree and her family to the Prime Minister's Office.
Speaking after the meeting, Anushree said she never imagined the Prime Minister would read her letter or invite her to meet him.
"I really needed a harmonium to continue practicing music, but my family could not afford to buy one. That is why I wrote the letter," she said.
"I could not hand it directly to the Prime Minister and instead gave it to one of his officials. I never thought he would receive or read it. When an official from the Prime Minister's Office called to say the Prime Minister had read my letter and wanted to meet us, I could hardly believe it. Today, he surprised us by meeting us in person."
Anushree said the Prime Minister spoke to her warmly, asked about her musical training, and encouraged her to continue practicing regularly. To support her musical journey, he presented her with the harmonium she had requested.
During the meeting, Anushree also performed a patriotic song for the Prime Minister.
Expressing their gratitude, Anushree and her family said the Prime Minister's encouragement would inspire her to pursue music with greater dedication and confidence. They said receiving the harmonium and the opportunity to meet the Prime Minister would remain one of the most memorable moments of her life.
