Asif Mahmud sends legal notice to BNP MP Beethika

National Citizens Party (NCP) spokesperson Asif Mahmud Sajeeb Bhuiyan has served a legal notice on BNP reserved-seat MP Beethika Binte Hossain over allegations he says are defamatory.
Asif Mahmud disclosed the matter in a post on his verified Facebook page on Thursday (August 6).
According to the post, Beethika recently alleged at a public programme that Asif Mahmud had demanded Tk 3 crore from her to become a member of the Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB).
Asif Mahmud reportedly contacted her several times seeking evidence to support the allegation and asking for details of who allegedly demanded the money. According to his post, she did not provide any evidence, instead saying, “That’s what I was told.”
The legal notice asks Beethika to provide evidence supporting her allegation within seven days or withdraw the statement and issue an unconditional public apology.
If she fails to do either, Asif Mahmud said he would take legal action against her for defamation.
He also alleged that he and other supporters of the July Uprising have faced repeated propaganda and character assassination, describing the latest allegation as part of a broader attempt to undermine the uprising’s leadership and achievements.
