Father electrocuted while saving son

KALAI, JOYPURHAT, Aug 8: A man died after being electrocuted by a severed wire of a BMDA pump while saving his son in Itatala Village of Udaypur Union in Kalai Upazila of the district on Friday morning. 

The deceased Jamal Uddin, 45, was the son of Japir Uddin of the village. 

It is known that Jamal Uddin connected the electricity line with the BMDA pump to drain the water of the Shalukgari pond on Thursday night. 

When the water level decreased overnight, his son Russell, 12, went down to the pond on Friday morning to disconnect the line but he shouted to save him. Hearing this, Jamal Uddin jumped into the pond but was electrocuted. 

He was taken to Bogura Shaheed Ziaur Rahman Medical College Hospital, where he was declared dead. Seriously injured Russell was admitted there.

Kalai Police Station OC (Investigation) Dipendranath confirmed the incident.
