Two people drowned in separate incidents in Noakhali District and Singra Upazila of Natore District in two days.
NOAKHALI: A housewife drowned in a pond at the house of Amin Ullah Tendal in Boro Ramdebpur Village of Ward No. 4 in Sundalpur Union of Kabirhat Upazila of the district on Saturday morning.
The deceased Kulsum Akhter Lucky, 39, was the daughter of Taher of the same house and the mother of three children.
Locals said that Kulsum lived in her father's house with her husband Bechu and three children. As usual, she went to the pond bank to wash vegetables. At one point, she fell from there and drowned. Later, her relatives found her body floating in the pond. Family members claim that Kulsum was suffering from epilepsy.
Kabirhat Police Station (PS) Sub-Inspector Imdadul Islam confirmed the death.
SINGRA, NATORE, Aug 8: A teenager drowned while on a boat trip in Chalan Beel in Singra Upazila of the district. His body was recovered from Kantanagar area of Chalan Beel on Friday evening.
The deceased Apan Ali, 13, was the son of Alamgir Hossain of Nandigram Upazila in Bogura District and class 6 student of Bogura Ma KG School.
Police and eyewitnesses said that he had come from Bogura Ma KG School with his teacher and classmates to Kantanagar Point area of Chalan Beel for a boat trip on Friday and fell into the water of the beel due to carelessness in front of his teacher and classmates. After a lot of searching, locals recovered the body in the evening.
Officer-in-Charge of Singra PS Rafiqul Islam confirmed the death.
