Police Arrest 5 Drug Peddlers in Ashulia Drives

Police has detained five alleged drug dealers with yaba, heroin and cannabis in separate drives across Ashulia.

Law enforcers recovered 55 pieces of yaba, 100 packets of heroin and 75 grams of cannabis from their possession.

Ashulia Police Station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Mohammad Tarikul Islam confirmed the matter in a press release on Monday afternoon.

The drives were conducted from Sunday afternoon to early Monday morning in the Baipail, Dendabor, and Unique Bus Stand areas of Ashulia.

According to Ashulia Police, a team arrested drug peddler Suruj Mia, 45, with 35 pieces of yaba tablets in front of Sombhar Filling Station in Baipail around 6:00PM on Sunday.

Earlier at around 3:00PM, police arrested two drug peddlers - Iqbal Hossain, 47, and Tuhin Mullah, 26 - from Master Plaza lane in Dendabor Old Para. Three yaba tablets, 17 packets of heroin, and 75 grams of cannabis were recovered from them.

In another drive around 5:30PM, police arrested Fuad Hossain, 27, with 100 packets of heroin and 20 pieces of Yaba tablets from the Mondol Colony area of Dendabor.

Later, around 1:30AM on Monday, police arrested another drug peddler, Faysal Firoz, 33, along with 20 pieces of yaba tablets in front of a hotel near the Unique Bus Stand area.

Ashulia Police Station OC Mohammad Tarikul Islam said the arrests were made as part of regular drives against drugs, terrorism, and crime under the supervision and guidance of Dhaka District Superintendent of Police Shamima Parveen.

Separate cases have been filed against the arrestees under the Narcotics Control Act, 2018.

The police official added that such drives will continue to keep Ashulia crime-free and drug-free.
