Rajbari holds seminar on vessel census

RAJBARI, Aug 12: A notification seminar on vessel census with boat-related stakeholders at the district level was held at the Deputy Commissioner (DC)'s conference room under the chairmanship of DC Afroza Parveen on Monday afternoon.
Later, an awareness rally was held in the Goalanda River Port area.
 
Project Director Saiful Islam, Md Monir Hossain of the Department of Shipping, Deputy Director (DD) of District Statistics Office Md Rezaul Karim, Additional DD Md Rokonuzzaman, along with statistics officers of the five upazilas of the district and officials and employees of various departments concerned participated in the seminar.
In her speech, DC Afroza Parveen said that this survey project has been undertaken to reduce crime and accidents in boats. The seminar has been organised to assess the feasibility and rationality of the vessel census before conducting it.
Project Director Saiful Islam said, “The vessel census will be conducted from August 20 to 29. I seek the cooperation of all concerned to complete the census smoothly.”
