2 more die of dengue, 723 hospitalised

Two more people died of dengue in the past 24 hours, raising the death toll from the mosquito-borne disease to 63 this year. During the same period, 723 new patients were hospitalised with dengue.
The Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS) disclosed the information in a press release issued on Wednesday. It said that two deaths occurred between 8am Tuesday and 8am Wednesday.
During this period, 723 dengue patients were admitted to hospitals, taking the total number of dengue patients hospitalised this year to 21,550. A total of 19,894 patients have been discharged so far, including 712 in the last 24 hours. An analysis of division-wise data showed that Dhaka recorded the highest number of new admissions, with 320 patients, in the past 24 hours.
Besides, 101 patients were admitted in Barishal, 83 in Chattogram, 98 in Khulna, 45 in Mymensingh and 63 in Rajshahi.
According to the monthly breakdown, two dengue patients died each in January and February, one in May, 13 in June, 36 in July and nine so far in August.
