A day-long workshop titled “The Modern Social Scientists: Navigating Research, Teaching and Academic Growth” was held at the University of Dhaka on Wednesday, organised by the Faculty of Social Sciences.
The workshop took place at the Professor Muzaffar Ahmed Chowdhury Auditorium. Dhaka University Pro-Vice-Chancellor (Education) Professor Dr Abdus Salam chaired the inaugural session, while UGC member Professor Dr Abdullah-Al-Mamun attended as the chief guest.
Dean of the Faculty of Social Sciences Professor Kazi Mohammad Mahbubur Rahman delivered the welcome address, while Economics Department Chairman Professor Dr Ferdousi Nahar gave the vote of thanks.
Professor Abdus Salam stressed greater focus on research, saying quality publications in internationally recognised journals and higher citation rates are vital for improving the university’s academic quality and global standing.
Experts presented papers and joined discussions on research, teaching and academic development.
