Gang leader among 3 inter-district robbers arrested

Police have arrested three members of an inter-district robbery gang in Shibganj, Chapainawabganj. A pickup van, a motorcycle, a CNG-run auto-rickshaw and seven cows were also seized.
Chapainawabganj Police Superintendent Rezaul Karim disclosed the information at a press briefing on Wednesday.
The arrested men are Kanu alias Kandu of Argarahat area, Shafiqul Islam of Muslimpur and Rakib of Uttar Dhobra.
Police said they arrested the three during a raid on Kanu’s house on Tuesday night based on a tip-off. Two to three other suspected robbers fled after sensing the police presence.
The accused face multiple cases, including robbery, murder and drug-related charges, in different police stations. They will be sent to jail after being produced before a court.
Kanu, the alleged gang leader, is one of nine brothers. Two of his brothers were killed in mob beatings over robbery allegations, while Kanu lost a leg and now uses a prosthetic limb.
