Measles symptoms claim 7 more lives

Seven more people died with measles symptoms across the country in the last 24 hours, with five of the casualties reported from the Dhaka division alone.

During the same period, 1,031 new patients exhibited measles symptoms, while 80 individuals tested positive for the disease, according to the daily measles situation update released by the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS) on Monday (August 17).

The report revealed that 816 children died with measles symptoms between March 15 and August 17. Additionally, 99 children died from confirmed measles cases during this period, bringing the total death toll from measles and suspected measles cases to 915.

With 50 new confirmed cases in the last 24 hours, the total number of laboratory-confirmed measles cases in the country reached 17,930 since March 15.

Furthermore, the new 1,031 symptomatic cases brought the total count of patients showing measles symptoms to 1,43,778 over the five-month period.

DGHS data showed that a total of 1,25,386 patients were admitted to hospitals with measles symptoms during this timeframe, of whom 1,20,913 have recovered and were discharged.
