Three more people died of dengue across the country in the last 24 hours till Sunday morning, raising the total death toll from the mosquito-borne disease to 70 this year.
Besides, 805 more patients were admitted to various hospitals across the country during the same period.
The Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS) provided the update in a press release sent on Sunday.
According to the DGHS press release, among the new patients admitted during the last 24 hours from 8:00 AM Saturday to 8:00 AM Sunday, 80 were recorded in Barishal Division, 82 in Chattogram Division, 156 in Dhaka Division outside city corporations, 149 in Dhaka North City Corporation, 112 in Dhaka South City Corporation, 97 in Khulna Division, 65 in Mymensingh Division, 55 in Rajshahi Division, seven in Rangpur Division, and two in Sylhet Division.
The DGHS reported that a total of 29,978 people have been infected with dengue across the country so far this year.
Of them, 8,668 patients were hospitalized in the current month of August. July recorded the highest single-month hospitalizations this year with 9,206 cases, followed by June with 2,907 cases.
The total death toll stands at 70 so far this year. Of the deceased, 16 died in August, 36 in July, 13 in June, one in May, two in February, and two in January.
