Indian President Droupadi Murmu has congratulated Bangladesh’s newly elected President Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir on assuming office.
In a congratulatory message on Friday (August 21), Murmu extended her warm wishes to Mirza Fakhrul on taking charge as the President of Bangladesh.
She expressed hope that Mirza Fakhrul’s long experience in public life and political leadership would mark the beginning of a successful tenure in serving the people of Bangladesh.
The Indian president said the relationship between India and Bangladesh is unique, built on shared history and sacrifices, close cultural ties and friendly relations.
She noted that bilateral ties between the two countries have expanded in recent years across various areas, including energy, technology, connectivity, youth development, health and education.
Murmu also expressed her desire to work with President Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir to further strengthen the partnership between the two neighbouring countries.
In her congratulatory message, she wished Mirza Fakhrul good health, happiness and success in discharging his responsibilities, while also wishing continued progress and prosperity for the people of Bangladesh.
