Global oil prices have risen amid concerns that supplies could tighten in the coming weeks following US President Donald Trump’s threat to impose economic sanctions on Iran’s trading partners.
According to the latest data from OilPrice.com, Brent crude rose 0.65 per cent to $94.39 a barrel, while US West Texas Intermediate (WTI) increased 0.26 per cent to $87.06 a barrel.
Brent has gained more than 6 per cent over the past week, while WTI has risen more than 5 per cent.
Experts said alternative supply routes were being explored despite limited movement through the strait. Reduced supplies from Saudi Arabia, Iraq, the United Arab Emirates and Kuwait have also contributed to the rise in prices.
