Home Minister Salahuddin Ahmed made a surprise visit to Tejgaon Police Station in Dhaka on Saturday afternoon, inspecting the overall law and order situation, infrastructure and quality of public services at the station.

During the visit, the minister spoke with police personnel on duty and inspected various parts of the station, including administrative offices of police officials, the duty officer’s room, investigation officers’ offices, the lock-up, police barracks and the dining area.

While visiting the barracks, Salahuddin Ahmed inquired about the accommodation facilities for police personnel, the quality of food served at the mess and cleanliness. He also sought information about the schedules and working conditions of officers assigned to night and shift duties.

The minister also spoke directly with citizens who had come to the police station seeking services. He listened to the problems of people who had come to file general diaries (GDs) or complaints and instructed the officer-in-charge and other relevant officials to resolve their grievances promptly and transparently.

Salahuddin Ahmed said the primary responsibility of the police is to ensure public safety and provide services to citizens. “A police station must become a place of trust and confidence for every person,” he said, adding that the government is committed to creating an environment where citizens can come to police stations without fear and directly communicate their problems without intermediaries.

Inspector General of Police (IGP) Md Ali Hossain Fakir, Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) Commissioner Mosleh Uddin Ahmed and other officials accompanied the minister during the inspection.
