Ekramul murder: ICT orders newspaper notice for Hasina, 6 others

The International Crimes Tribunal (ICT) has ordered newspaper notices calling on ousted former prime minister Sheikh Hasina and six other fugitives to surrender in a crimes-against-humanity case over the alleged killing of Teknaf municipal councillor Ekramul Haque.

The tribunal also sent four accused, including former Cox’s Bazar-4 lawmaker Abdul Rahman Bodi, to jail after showing them arrested in the case.

The International Crimes Tribunal-2 passed the orders on Tuesday (August 25).

The three other accused sent to jail are Brigadier General Miftah Uddin Ahmed, Brigadier General Mahbub Alam, and former Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) Director General Anwar Latif Khan.

Miftah Uddin and the other three accused were produced before the tribunal earlier in the morning.

The tribunal ordered the publication of newspaper notices asking seven fugitives, including Sheikh Hasina and former police chief Benazir Ahmed, to appear and surrender before the tribunal.
