Kriti Sanon hits back at Kangana over Rakhi ad outfit

Actor Kriti Sanon has hit back at Kangana Ranaut after the latter criticised her outfit in a jewellery advertisement for Raksha Bandhan.

Kangana questioned Kriti’s choice of attire in the ad, where she is seen wearing a bralette-style blouse with a cape and a draped skirt.

Responding to the criticism on her Instagram Stories, Kriti questioned the scrutiny women face over their clothing.

“Also, when will we stop telling women what to wear?” she wrote, adding that a woman’s respect for her culture should not be measured by her clothes.

“Culture & traditions are in her heart, not in her neckline,” Kriti wrote.

She also said the essence of festivals lies in the emotions and meaning attached to traditions rather than the clothes people wear.

Kriti further shared that she and her sister celebrate Raksha Bandhan by tying rakhis to each other, describing the festival as a bond of protection. She said they pray for each other’s health, happiness and long life, adding that their prayers also extend to their dogs.

Kangana had criticised the advertisement in an Instagram Story, questioning why a woman would tie a rakhi while wearing a bikini or underwear when there are various clothing options available.

The advertisement had already drawn criticism online, with some users questioning the use of a Western-style outfit in a campaign linked to the traditional festival.
