Measles symptoms claim five more lives

Five more people died with measles symptoms across the country in the past 24 hours, including four in Dhaka, while 986 new cases with measles symptoms were reported. Another 91 people tested positive for measles.

The Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS) reported the figures in its regular measles situation report on Tuesday.

According to the report, 844 children have died with measles symptoms since March 15, while 99 have died from confirmed measles. The combined death toll from suspected and confirmed measles cases now stands at 943.

With 91 new confirmed cases reported in the past 24 hours, the total number of confirmed measles cases has reached 18,578 since March 15.

Meanwhile, 986 people developed measles symptoms in the past 24 hours, taking the total number of suspected cases to 151,638.

According to the DGHS, 132,554 people with measles symptoms have been admitted to hospitals during the period. Of them, 127,811 have recovered and been discharged.
