The bodies of seven victims who died due to the fire at the sofa factory in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, have been received in Atrai of Naogaon.
The bodies of the victims have arrived in Atrai through a refrigerated ambulance around 1:30 am Friday (August 28) from Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport after landing in Bangladesh on Biman Bangladesh Airlines at around 4 pm Thursday from Saudi Arabia.
Local people and relatives have waited outside the compound of the Atrai Police Station to meet the deceased victims.
Joint Janaza will be performed for the seven victims at 10:00 AM Friday in the field of Molla Azad Memorial College, after which the bodies will be delivered to the families of the deceased.
Seven deceased victims are named Farid, Rubel Pramanik, Mohon Ali, Sumon Ali, Kalimuddin, Sohel Rana and Abdul Jalil Sardar.
As per Bangladesh Embassy, 16 Bangladeshis lost lives due to the fire. So far, Saudi authorities have been able to identify nine victims via fingerprint test.
UNO of Atrai Md Moniruzzaman said the administration has brought back the seven bodies without any expense to the relatives. He further stated that so far, identities of 11 victims from Atrai and one from Naogaon Sadar have been confirmed and the remaining victims' bodies are being brought.
