RAJBARI, Aug 28: Organised by the Bangladesh Sramik Kalyan Federation’s district unit, a workers’ rally was held at the Rajbari Convention Centre in the town on Friday morning.
Advocate Md Ronju Biswas, president of the federation’s district unit, chaired the rally, while Advocate Atikur Rahman, central president of the federation, attended as the chief guest.
Among others, Md Aktaruzzaman, president of BREL, Md Azharul Islam, central finance secretary of the federation, and Advocate Md Nurul Islam, chief adviser to the district unit, also attended.
In his speech, Atikur Rahman said the country’s economy and development are driven by workers’ labour, but their living standards have not improved as expected. He said the federation is working to establish the rights of disadvantaged workers.
The speakers called on the government to improve working conditions, establish fair wage structures and ensure timely payment of fair wages. They also stressed the need for a comprehensive and accurate database of workers nationwide.
