At least 28 people, including children and women, were injured in dog attacks in Bera municipality of Pabna over two days.

Of them, 16 people were injured after being attacked by the same dog in four neighbourhoods, while 12 others were bitten by several other dogs.

According to local sources, an eight-year-old boy, Raiyan, was first attacked by a dog in Bongram at around 10:30 AM on August 30. The dog then moved through Bongram, Sanyalpara, Chakpara and Saudagarpara, attacking 16 people, including children, women and elderly residents.

The remaining 12 people were bitten by other dogs in different areas of the municipality.

All the injured were taken to Bera Upazila Health Complex, where they received primary treatment and anti-rabies vaccines.

Local residents said the attacks took place on pedestrians on different roads in the municipality between 10:30 AM on August 30 and 2:00 PM on August 31, creating fear among residents.

Bera Upazila Health and Family Planning Officer Dr Tahmina Yasmin said the victims received necessary treatment and vaccines after their wounds were properly cleaned.

She urged anyone bitten by a dog to immediately clean the wound, seek medical care and complete the full course of vaccination.
