Five decades of vocal magic, Sabina Yasmin still unmatched

Generations over the past five decades have been fascinated with the magical voice of the renowned singer Sabina Yasmin. It is today that the singer celebrates her 73rd birthday. Born on the 4th of September 1954, the iconic singer is now in her 73rd year and is as luminous as ever in Bangla music.

Coming from a musical background, Sabina had proper training in singing and spent years mastering her art form. No matter what the topic of her song was - whether love, pain, joy, or patriotism. She always lent her distinct style to each song.

Her first playback song came in 1967 with the name Madhur Jochhona Dipali from the movie Agun Niye Khela. She recorded more than 10,000 songs throughout her career, including over 1,500 songs for films.

She was also a contributor in patriotic songs and many songs regarding the Liberation War, independence, and love for the motherland became associated with the feelings of the Bangladeshi citizens.

She received the Ekushey Padak in 1984 and the Independence Award in 1996 for her distinguished service in the field of music. Her record for having the most National Film Awards for singing is still unmatched till date.
