Day laborer dies after falling from bridge in Tangail

A body of a day laborer was recovered from under-construction bridge in Kalihati upazilas of Tangail.

The incident occurred near Ratanganj Bazar at around 7:00 AM on Saturday (September 5).

The deceased was identified as Almas ali ,50, from Amtail village in Baheṛatail Union of Sakhipur Upazila.

According to family members, Almas Ali was found lying beneath the under-construction bridge near Ratanganj Bazar in the morning. Locals rescued him and took him to Sakhipur Upazila Health Complex, where the attending doctor declared him dead.

He earned his livelihood by collecting firewood and transporting it by pushcart to Ratanganj Bazar for sale. As usual, he had set out for the market on Saturday morning with a cartload of firewood.

Kalihati Police Station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Mohammad Mahbubur Rahman said it was initially learned that the man died after falling beneath the under-construction bridge. At the request of the family, arrangements are underway to hand over his body to his relatives.
