The government has regularised the jobs of 243 assistant teachers working at government secondary schools across the country.

Following the regularisation, the teachers will be entitled to salaries and allowances in accordance with government rules from the dates they joined their respective posts, according to a notification issued by the Secondary and Higher Education Division of the Education Ministry on September 3.

The teachers’ jobs were regularised after they fulfilled all the requirements under the Secondary and Higher Education Directorate (Employees) Recruitment Rules, 2021.

A review of the list attached to the notification shows that some of the teachers joined government secondary schools as assistant teachers in 2017, while others joined in 2018 or later. Their appointments have been made permanent several years after they entered service.

The notification also said the teachers would receive their salaries and allowances from their respective joining dates as per the applicable rules. Their outstanding salaries, allowances and other eligible dues will also be paid following the regularisation of their jobs.
