Two women drown in pond at JnU’s second campus

Two women were died after drowning while bathing in a pond at Jagannath University’s (JnU) second campus in Keraniganj of Dhaka this afternoon.

The incident occurred around 3:00 PM.

The dead are Rabeya, 14, daughter of Atikur Rahman, and Julia, 20, said police.

Abul Kalam Azad, inspector (investigation) of South Keraniganj Police Station. He said four women went to a pond. Two of them swam to safety, while two of them drowned.

An unnatural death (UD) case will be filed over the incident.

JnU Vice-Chancellor Prof Dr Rais Uddin said the university sent a team to the spot after learning about the incident. The team recovered the bodies.

“We issued a notice today restricting public access to the pond,” he said.
