20 medical students injured as bus falls into ditch in Cumilla

A bus, carrying 20 medical college students, suffered injuries after its driver lost control and fell into a roadside ditch at Daudkandi, Cumilla, on the Dhaka-Chattogram highway.

The accident took place at around 4:30 AM on Tuesday in Jinglatali, Daudkandi upazila.

The students were on the way to Cox’s Bazar in connection with their college’s yearly tour program. The students left for Cox’s Bazar on Monday night in four buses belonging to Saint Martin Paribahan.

One of the buses met the accident in Jinglatali while going through the area. Around 40 students were on that bus where 20 of them were injured.

Nine students, who suffered injuries, were taken to Dhaka Medical College Hospital for treatment.

Daudkandi Highway Police Assistant Sub-Inspector (ASI) Nur Uddin Bahar confirmed the accident.

The names of the injured students include Zawat, Ferdous, Kaushi, Miraj, Mursalin, Emon Mridha, Arif, Shafiqul Islam, Maliha Mehnaz, Raihan, Sajia, Taspia, Ariful Islam, Samiul, Rajorshi, Tasnim, Humaira, Mila, Nisa and Tanzina.
