‎One killed, 50 injured in head-on bus collision in Chakaria

‎The accident occurred around 2:15pm at Medakachhapia Dhala in Khutakhali Union of Chakaria.
‎
‎The injured were taken to hospitals in Malumghat, Chakaria and nearby areas. Police said several passengers, including women, as well as the drivers and helpers of the buses, were in critical condition.
‎
‎According to eyewitnesses, a Cox’s Bazar-bound air-conditioned bus of Evergreen collided head-on with a Chakaria Service minibus at Khutakhali Medakachhapia Dhala.
‎
‎The impact was so severe that the minibus was badly mangled. Its roof was thrown onto the road, while the vehicle’s body landed on the western-side footpath. The front portion of the Evergreen bus was also badly damaged.

‎The accident disrupted traffic on the busy highway. Police rushed to the scene and began efforts to remove the damaged buses from the road.
‎
‎Mahbub, officer-in-charge of Malumghat Highway Police Station, confirmed that a child was killed in the accident and many others were injured.
‎
‎“We have started the rescue operation after arriving at the scene. Both buses were badly damaged. Details will be available later,” he said.

‎The identities of the deceased and injured could not be confirmed immediately.
