A 40-year-old man died after allegedly being beaten and choked during an argument over a mobile ludo game in Nasirnagar of Brahmanbaria on Thursday (September 10) evening.

The deceased, Rofiq Mia, was a day labourer from Nischintapur village of Guniak union.

According to police and locals, Rofiq Mia went to the garden house where Salman Mia and Bashir Ahmed were playing ludo in the mobile phone. He informed them that they were playing it incorrectly. It led to an argument between them.

Locals named Mahfuz Mia and Dholu Mia intervened to calm them down. However, after five minutes Salman Mia choked Rofiq Mia and beat him brutally until he collapsed.

Rofiq Mia was taken to the Nasirnagar Upazila Health Complex, where a duty doctor declared him dead.

Officer in-Charge (OC) of Nasirnagar Police Station, Shahinul Islam said, “There is no injury mark on his body but only some marks of punches.” Rofiq Mia’s body has been sent to the morgue of Brahmanbaria General Hospital for autopsy.

He added, “The cause of death will be known after receiving the autopsy report.” There was no case filed for the incident.
